It's no secret that I'm a Mary Mary fan. So when WeTv invited me to the exclusive screening of their the gospel sister's hit reality show I happily obliged. Even though I SHOULD be packing for LA this was a great way to start my weekend off.

The first episode is EXPLOSIVE! You won't want to miss it. We finally get to find out what happened with their failed tour in Africa, how Tina is handling the fall out from her husband cheating on her and of course the million dollar question- is the group still together!?

The BET Honors air tonight at 9pm EST and Feb 28th on BET Intl. Trust me when I tell you won't want to miss the show honoring Berry Gordy, Aretha Franklin, Ice Cube & many more. With jaw dropping performances from Tamar Braxton, Janelle Monae, Jennifer Hudson  this show will def be water cooler chatter tomm.

I was on the red carpet at the taping of the show a few weeks ago in DC & I had so much fun at the inspiring ceremony. Nelson Mandela was given a special tribute at the awards show and while on the carpet I asked the celebs to share their thoughts on Madiba. Check out what Ice Cube, Wayne Brady, Wolf Blitzer and Rev Al had to say about the iconic leader!

It's OVER: Robin Thicke & Paula Patton separate

But they've been together for so looooooong! Even though they met when they were just kids at 14 it seems their love couldn't stand the test of time.

Actress Paula Patton & her hubby Robin Thicke are separating. In a statement to People Magazine they said: 

"We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," 

Paula, 38 and 36 year old Robin welcomed their son Julian Fuego in April 2010. Dang! Guess those rumors of the singer tongue downing girls & groping butts became too much for Paula. I just always assumed they had an open marriage. How sad :(

Kerry Washington celebrates baby shower at Shonda Rhimes' house!

Kerry Washington has such an adorable pregnancy glow! The 37 year old Scandal star celebrated her baby shower with a garden themed soirée on Sunday at the beautiful home of her hit show's creator Shonda Rhimes.

According to People:

About 40 guests, including Jane Fonda, sipped lemonade and champagne at the joyous event, according to a source. 

Washington wore a light blue dress and arrived with her mother. 

According to the source, the mom-to-be may not have told her loved ones whether she's expecting a baby girl or a baby boy. Guests arrived with gifts wrapped in yellow, pink, blue and green, including baskets containing baby clothes and plush stuffed animals. 

"Several guests gave toasts and Kerry seemed very excited,"

Wonder if her hubby was there or if this was a girls only affair? Can't wait to see pics of her baby, you know he will be a cutie-patootie!

Brandy calls OFF her engagement to music exec Ryan Press!

Damn homie, say it ain't so!

A few days ago I wondered out loud on Instagram if singer Brandy and her boo Ryan Press were still together. I was being nosey and going through the 35 year old's Instagram page and didnt notice any pics of the couple together recently! He wasn't at her surprise birthday party in LA on Feb 11 nor did he go to Lagos with the singer a few weeks ago. Well chile...

They have split up! B-Rocka is a single lady!

According to the YBF: 

A source in the couple's close-knit circle revealed to TheYBF.com that after moving in together, the two decided marriage may not be in the cards right now.  But we're not ruling the couple completely out just yet.

We've learned that Brandy & Ryan have decided to take a step back to re-evaluate their relationship.  And it's very possible that after this mature and honest decision, they may rekindle their love again.

Furthermore they say Ryan has moved on and is dating someone else! Yikes! I was really rooting for them :( Hopefully they can rekindle their romance!

Rihanna looks sooooo pretty on the cover of Vogue Magazine! The soon to be 26 year old is covering the fashion staple for the 3rd time, kudos to her!

On painful fashion choices: “It’s not about pain. It’s about the commitment. I say to myself, ‘I want to look like this,’ and worry about the pain later. I’ve had nights I had to tiptoe home and the balls of my feet wouldn’t even allow me to stand.”

On moving to New York full time: “I’ve downsized. I want a smaller closet. I want simpler. I want to just take it back to what’s important.”

Nicki Minaj apologizes for 'disrespectful' Malcolm X cover art!

I'm glad she did this!

Rapstress Nicki Minaj released a new song a few days ago and the cover art set the Internet on fire. With good reason of course. I like the single but that cover art is a bit much for me, I hate how we disrespect our African American leaders by using inflammatory images. I also despise the n-word so this was not a good look either way. Well the rapper just apologized and this is what she said:

Way to go Nicki! Still not feeling the n-word but I'm glad she stepped up to the plate. And just in case you haven't heard the song, check it out here.

It seems that Keri Hilson and her cute Congolese boyfriend Serge Ibaka are officially broken up. The 31 year old songstress was flat out asked by blogger Jasmine Brand if she was single and check out her telling response below:

"This is going to be an interesting Valentine’s Day. That’s all I’ll say. It’s going to be interesting. I’m working, I’m just busy, I’m busy. I feel like right now, music is my boyfriend. That’s how I feel, right now. So, I don’t know"

Word on the street is that Keri wanted a more serious relationship but her 24 year old boo still wanted to play the field. Listen Serge, you cant have your cake and eat it too. This woman learned how to make fufu for you, she deserves a ring :)

She played coy when asked to dish about what ended the relationship but she had plenty of advice to give to the single ladies! "Know who you are. Umm, never drop your standards, for anyone. That’s it. And I mean that in every since of the relationship. Business, you know whatever, if there’s a certain standard that you uphold, and you’re so strong-minded. Brandy & Kelly Rowland REVEAL how they celebrated their Feb 11 Birthdays!

Feb 11 was an extra special day for R&B superstars (and friends) Kelly Rowland and Brandy. The pair celebrated their birthdays separately on different coasts but they just shared with fans how they spent their special birthdays.

First up was Brandy! The 35 year old says that she was completely stunned by her family and friends who orchestrated a surprise party for her. She wrote on Instagram:

"Surprise Birthday Party. I was truly shocked, surprised and confused. I felt overwhelmed and so loved. God was in the room! An unforgettable moment and one of the best nights of m life. Love to my brother Ray J, Tyrese and Ryan Ramsey"

Nelson Mandela was posthumously honored on Sunday night at BET Honors and on hand to accept his award was his daughter - Zindzi Mandela.

I managed to talk to the Mandela's on the red carpet briefly and we talked about her father's iconic legacy, Idris Elba and I even attempted to get a bit of wedding advice from Madiba's daughter. 

Don't miss the BET Honors when they air on BET International on Feb 28th. Aretha Franklin's tribute will send tears streaming down your face, it was beautiful!

On Friday night, I was invited to an exclusive pre-BET Honors dinner hosted by BET CEO Debra Lee. The dinner was held at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

It was hard not to gawk at the amount of star power in the room. I was literally watching Aretha Franklin chat with Smokey Robinson while Attorney General of the United States Eric Holder was making his rounds in the room and here was lil 'ole me just trying to hold it together. It was a sight to behold, I am still floating!

I had a chance to ask Tamar about her weight loss secrets and Aretha Franklin dished her favorite music act of the moment! Awesome stuff! Dont miss the BET Honors when they air in the US on Feb 24 and Feb 28th on BET International!

Details on the ONLY Zimbabwean representing at the Winter Olympics!

So I just found out from a close friend that there is a skier representing for Zimbabwe at the Winter Olympics! 

What's even more remarkable is that snow has fallen just once in Zim more than 50 years ago. So how did the 20 year old perfect his craft? According to Sports Illustrated "He needed snow and therefore other countries to make his winter dream happen after first taking up skiing on family vacations in Europe. He perfected his art while studying in the United States, on trips to New Zealand and Chile, and then throughout Europe in a bid to qualify"

Luke was born in Zimbabwe and is backed by Zimbabwe’s recently formed snow sports group and the national sports council.

What a great story! We are rooting for you Luke!

Ever wonder what all those celebs are working with underneath their glorious wigs & weaves!?

Well the answer is quite a bit! "Being Mary Jane" star Gabrielle Union recently took to Instagram showcase her enviable hair length 

She wrote the following caption with the pic 

"Ladies... You can achieve hair growth... With a weave! This is allllll mine, no clips, no extensions, hadn't even been pressed...And it got this healthy thick legnth from responsibly wearing weaves. #weaveandflowletitgrow"

It's beautiful hair, even though her weave is always laid, I'd love to see her natural hair more often. I wonder how the public would view these ladies if they stepped out frequently without the weaves & wigs? Do we associate Hollywood glamour with long hair only? Hmm glad to see Lupita & Danai shifting that perception a bit..
