Bonang vs. Miley Cyrus. Who Wore It Best?

Yesterday when I posted pictures of FHM model/TV personality Bonang Matheba I remembered that her dress looked vaguely familiar. Then it hit me! Miley Cyrus wore a similar backless dress to Elton John's party last weekend in California. I think they both look phenomenal but I want to hear from you. Who wore this look best?

When Harry met Bonang! Details on the Royal's visit to South Africa

My favorite Royal - Prince Harry is currently in South Africa on a 3 day philanthropic trip on behalf of his charity Sentebale. At a glitzy gala in Johannesburg tonight the ginger haired Royal spoke about how he hoped his late mother would be "proud" of the work his charity work. Harry said: “I hope she would be proud of what we are trying to achieve in her name. I hope that my mother will be proud, too". Aww I'm sure she is just beaming with pride, well done Harry!

Can we pause for a second to discuss how cute Harry he is? He definitely got hit with the handsome stick in the family. **Swoon**

Ok back to business. The 28 year old also said he was “more determined than ever” to help Lesotho’s vulnerable children. The dinner marked the launch of plans to build a Mamohato Centre for children and young people - named after Harry’s charity co-founder Prince Seeiso’s mother Queen Mamohato Bereng Seeiso.

Top Billing presenter and MC of the night Bonang shakes Prince Harry's hand!
Seems like the ladies also came out in droves to see the ravishing royal. Look at how excited TV personality Bonang Matheba is to shake his hand! Girl I OVERstand....

What were Bonang and actress Terry Pheto whispering about in this pic? CAPTION it!
That boy sure knows how to recover from a scandal right? Didn't we almost forget about the naked Vegas pics? To be honest I dig his wild streak. Party hard and play hard too!

Oh Bonang emcee'd the gig tonight in her white-hot backless gown. Folks on my instagram page where split on their feelings regarding the dress I really liked it! She has the body to pull it off and this really straddles the fine line of tasteful and sexy at the same damn time. Werq it girl! What do you think?

EXCLUSIVE EVENT RECAP: House of Mandela WINE launch in the US!

Did you know that South Africa has a 3 billion dollar wine industry? And that less than 2%  of it is owned by black South Africans? Ain't that something? Enter the Mandela family..

Dr. Makaziwe Mandela & daughter Tukwini Mandela

Nelson Mandela's daughter Dr. Makaziwe Mandela and his grand child Tukwini Mandela have stepped into the competitive industry with a brand new delectable set of wines aptly named : House of Mandela Wines. "The wine movement is growing" Tukwini told the Huffington Post earlier this week. "More and more people are experimenting with wine beyond spirit drinks. And there's a large segment of the black community who are interested in the wine now."

Just this past Tuesday I had the pleasure of attending their exclusive US launch of red, white and sparkling wine held in an upscale event space in New York City. The pair told the small group that they carefully chose the vineyards where the wines come from and that it's taken 6 years from inception to get the final product to the masses. Here's how the wines breakdown.... you can chose from the 3 tiers below:

  • Thembu
  • Royal Reserve
  • Sparkling

The Royal Reserve

The Thembu Collection

The Brut

While the guests were nibbling on the treats from the Mandela cookbook,  I had a quick chat with Tukwini, check it out below...

Me with Tukwini Mandela
Being a Mandela is....
interesting and challenging at the same time

What's the first thing I would notice if you invited me for wine at your house?
Camaraderie and love..

If you could recommend one recipe in your cookbook, what would it be?
LOL..OMG! Such a difficult question! Hmmm what would I recommend to you? I would say the sweet chicken!

What's the best piece of advice you've received from your grandfather?
Be true to yourself!

What makes you truly happy?
My family!

In case you are wondering how they decided used their famous surnames to name the wine Tukwini added "We are telling the story of our family and who we come from with these wines so it's natural that we would use the name Mandela."

You can buy the wines online at www.winetasting.com or 1-800-Flowers and with prices  ranging from $12 to 50, I would say that's a pretty good deal!Or if you are lucky enough to live in Dallas, Miami or NY the wine should be available in those regions soon.

BEST & WORST DRESSED at the 2013 Oscars

The fashion event of the season just wrapped a few minutes ago and Hollywood's elite did not disappoint! Yes this show is about the movies but let's be honest...it's also about the fashion. For the most part the celebs looked star-tacular! Let's a take a peak at some of the red carpet fashion at the 2013 Oscar's!

 BEST
Actress Amy Adams WOWED in this gown!

Over forty and fabulous- Halle Berry wore one of my fave looks!

Actress Amy Adams in a nude gown
South African Actress Charlize Theron was my BEST dressed celeb tonight! Just stunning!
Actress Naomi Watts in a metallic look

Yummy Mummy- Actress Reese Witherspoon

And now on the WORST dressed celebs:

I rarely talk badly about my African sisters but this dress is a big NO for me!
Who dressed "Bridesmaid" actress Melissa McCarthy?!? The retro hair and sloppy dress is just a MESS!

British actress Naomi Harris almost flashed us her "love below". Girl...

MEH
These are the celebs I am still on the fence on. I am not sure if their looks are hot or a hot a** mess..

Actress Kerry Washington is too FAB for all this. This dress has no va-va-voom factor!
I love Jennifer Hudson but this look is bit lackluster for me..what do you think of it?
This girl just bores me to tears! Kristen Stewart also looks so unhappy on the red carpet and her dress does not help her case. Hit or miss?

4 things I learned from Danai Gurira's appearance on "The View"

"The Walking Dead" actress Danai Gurira was on  US chat show "The View" this morning looking all kinds of beautiful. I have to track down who designed her black and white print dress, it was TOO fab. She was witty, charming and extremely engaging. Check out the 4 things I learned from her on talk show today.
1. She is stunningly beautiful gorgeous.
It's no secret that Danai is a Zimbabwean beauty! When she walked out onset all "The View" co-hosts were just gushing over her beauty!

2. "The toughest action hero on TV"
Danai told the ladies that playing an action hero on TV was so easy for her. She says "I've always been a tough kid and a tomboy growing up".

 3. There's a Zombie school?
Yep you got it. Danai confirmed that Greg Nicatera (the man who creates the prosthetics for the hit show) has a school  and is always on set making sure the actors function the way a zombie does. Danai laughs "If you are getting too lively, you gotta go back to zombie school.." Hilarious!

4. How did growing up in Zim help her in "The Walking Dead"?
Danai says the show to her -  is more about how folks would behave in a war zone and questioning what kind of person they would become in a dire situation. Expanding further she says "growing up in Southern Africa it sort of related to me as a war zone". Hmmm interesting!

Check out the full clip below of Danai wowing the ladies on The View!

P.s Remember when Elle Magazine confused Danai for Nene on the red carpet a few weeks ago? I wish they have asked them about since they were both on the show at the same time. So take that Elle - NeNe and Danai are NOT the same people!

Thoughts on Danai's interview?

Hit or Miss: Bonang's BOLD bell bottom jeans

One of South Africa biggest TV personalities, Bonang Matheba is currently in the UK capturing all the happenings at London Fashion Week. To keep us all appeased "your girl B" has been updating us with all her haute looks and the fashionable goings via social media. Just today, she uploaded a pic of her rocking a fabulous fur jacket, her signature shades and bold bell bottom jeans. Comments from her Instagram account ranged from "hate these jeans" to "you make bell bottoms look so hot". I gotta be honest, I'm not a fan of the jeans. Y'all, they are too big for her tiny frame. I love that top on her though!

But I wanna hear from you, what do you think of the pants...hit or miss?

Uh-oh, Alicia Keys All Star Set Called "Horrible". Was it that bad?

Man oh man! Alicia Keys hit the stage at the NBA All Star Game just a few minutes and the reaction from the twitterverse was swift and in my humble opinion very much on point. We all know AK can sing but her performance tonight was just awful. I'm not sure if she had a sore throat or if the sound was just off but something clearly wasn't right.

Her former manager Jeff Robinson tweeted his reaction to her lackluster performance.

Check out the set below and let me know what you think!
